Ways To Improve Your E-Commerce SEO Without Linkbuilding

Link building is not easy.

Even if you do the backlinking for your e-commerce store yourself, there is no guarantee you will get the success you expect from your efforts because you are competing against the big names and budgets.

But almost every SEO guide tells you to have a strong backlink profile for your website. So it has to have an importance, right?

Yes, it is important. But there are other ways to improve your ranking in search engines rather than spending days and hours on linkbuilding. That’s why I’m giving you 3 simple ways to improve your e-commerce SEO without linkbuilding.

  1. Optimize Title Tag and Meta Description

When I talk about optimizing title tag and Meta description, people usually think about filling them with keywords.

That’s not good for your site or for the ranking in search results. If you fill them with keywords only, Google will think of that as an over-optimized description and will push it back in the results.

Again, people will not click on your site if they see a keyword jammed description.

For example, look at this two Meta description:

  1. The best shoes of 2017. Find the best shoe from our site and buy the best one. The best shoes are good for you, your feet and long distance walking.
  2. See our list of 10 best sports shoes with their features, pros & cons. The detailed buying guide will ensure you are picking only the right one for you.

Between these two Meta descriptions of a shoe selling site, which one would you click? Obviously the second one. Why?

There are two reasons for that. First of all, the second one is not jammed with keywords like the former. Secondly, it was natural for readers to read rather than for algorithms.

  1. Find new Category-level keyword opportunities

Keyword research is important for e-commerce businesses. But many professional and most of the beginners like to avoid it. This isn’t good for the future of your site and store.

Even if you researched a lot about the keywords when you first launched the site, this is not enough for the site. Learning is a lifetime journey. It never stops and you shouldn’t either.

After you launched your site, you should constantly look for new keyword categories and imply them on your site.

  1. Rank “Best of” for the products

You perhaps saw “Best of Nike shoes”, “Best of Schwinn bicycles” type contents all around the web. Ever wonder why so many similar types of content are on the web?

That’s because they are good for an e-commerce site and no one likes to lose a good opportunity to get mass visitors.

Actually, people like to engage in these types of searches instead of “shoes” or “bicycles”. That’s why, if you are selling a particular type of product, make sure you have a page with “Best of YOUR PRODUCT” on your homepage. This will drive visitors to your site and consequently increase your sales.

If you consider these three tips and develop your site accordingly, you are sure to get unique visits without spending days or weeks on effective link building.
