No matter how many trends go viral in marketing, there is one thing that will never go old – content marketing.
Content marketing, still to this day, is one of the most common and effective ways to advertise your product or services and have a high conversion rate. However, this is only possible if you are using killer content. How do I get killer content you ask? With SEO.
As long as you are using SEO properly in your content, the conversion will increase and you will benefit from the time and effort you have put into creating the content.
So, to help you with writing killer content by using SEO properly and increase the conversion rate, here are 3 rules to follow –
1. Structure with the keywords before you start
Some might suggest you open MS Word and start typing. This suggestion is for book writers or journalists. I would have also suggested you the same if SEO was not involved.
You see, writing for your business and writing a novel or story is different. When you write a novel or any book, you just need to put your words on paper. However, when you are writing your SEO content, you need to accommodate the keywords and lay out what are you about to write. Treat it as an essay. Just like you would format your essay, format your content before writing.
2. Go beyond the word limit, don’t restrict yourself
I know I just told you to treat it as an essay and not as a novel or book-piece but when it comes to the word limit, you should not have one like when a writer writes a novel. Surely, book writers have an idea about how long they want it to make their books. But they are always flexible about the word count since the motive is to express their hearts.
Similarly, you should also be flexible about the word count of your content too since the motive is to explain the info. Don’t be scared to explain anything down to the ground.
3. No “Bad Links”
Links are one of the most important things in SEO. With its proper use, your website gets the credibility and your site ranks on Google search. But when the links are bad, the Google bots consider it as a spam site.
Before you ask me, let me explain what bad links are. There a few different ways you can make the links “bad”.
First of all, when you use a link that redirects to a spam site, your own site gets listed as a spam site. Secondly, when you use a site that is not relevant to your content, Google red flags it.
Lastly, if you use one site and link to all of your content, the SEO score will decrease eventually and your site will lose its existing ranking. If you avoid these things, you are using your links properly and that will definitely help you rank your site higher.
