The holiday season is on. Christmas just passed and we have New Year’s on hand.
It’s the perfect time to discuss your plans for the holiday season.
Holidays and Retailers
Holidays have a big impact on businesses in general. But retail has the most impact this season.
The reason is simple. People change their buying habits the most in this season.
For example, on any regular day, you would get some eggs and bread for your breakfast. But during the holiday season, you have a lot more on your list. Ornaments for trees, gifts, firecrackers, or even a Santa beard, you buy these things additionally. And this is just the grocery store.
For retail clothing stores, gift shops,e-commerce sites, the scene is much more intense. This is the most crucial time of the year when you can get permanent year-long customers if they are satisfied with your products and services.
Sure, offering amazing holiday deals are awesome ideas but what happens when they don’t like your attitude and the way you handle customers? Will they come back?
10 buck says NO.
So apart from working on your amazing deals, you have towork on your customer service too.
How to ensure good customer service during the holidays
Train your staff
The holiday pressure is a heavy load, I know that. That’s why I’ll suggest you train your staff before the rush starts.
Train your staff on how to manage the rush hours, how to handle the horde of customers and most importantly, how to keep everything together.
The biggest mistake your staff could make is getting overwhelmed with the rush and disrespect the customers. This should not happen in such an important time of the year. So, get your staff prepared to handle the pressure.
Hire more
The rush could overwhelm your existing staff. That’s why it is important to have a few extra helping hands these days.
Faster payment processing
Whatever issues you have with your payment processor, sort that out.
You would want to offer the smoothest payment processing experience to your customer at rush hour.
Provide Information
Holiday season is busy for everyone;you and your customers. So make sure you don’t make your customers wait for something. If you have an e-commerce site, sort all the information into one page with the final bill so that your customers can easily get everything they need to know before making the purchase on one page. Same goes for physical retail stores.
Prioritize your customers
Prioritizing your customer in the email inbox will save a lot your time and you would be able to handle the important issues before you get through the less important complaints.
Acknowledge suggestions & complaints
Ask for feedback and suggestions from your customers and pay heed to them. Resolve the complaints and take their suggestions seriously. After all, they know better what they want or what will make them happy. Remember, this holiday season is a long-term investment. So, don’t mess it up.
