2025’s Best E-commerce Sites & What to Learn

The phrase “we are living in the digital age” doesn’t do justice to the sense we try to make from it.

In this day and age, digital marketing and online presence is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Businesses that don’t have a solid online presence will very soon cease to exist in this ever-competitive world.

That’s why having a solid online presence makes so much sense these days. So, I looked at some of the best E-commerce sites to see what sets them apart from all the others, hoping to learn a few things. And I did.

  • Walmart.com

Best at Mobile optimization

Walmart was initially a supermarket that turned into an e-commerce destination for all.

Around 2014, Walmart planned to increase and solidify their online presence. Like its subtle redesigned logo, Walmart’s website is accented by the milder blue hue and a lot of negative space which allows the products to be better highlighted. But this is not what I learned from them. It is their consistency across all the platforms that made me dig deeper into their website’s design.

Whether you are on your phone, tablet or the computer at your desk, you’ll see that accessing Walmart’s site and everything from searching to checking out is super easy and consistent with the platform.

This is why you get the satisfying feeling of buying from Walmart no matter what device you are using. The dependable and intuitive platform teaches us that a mobile-optimized site is not the only thing that your customers are looking for. They want the same feeling of buying with a PC every time they shop, no matter what devices they are using.

  • Apple.com

Best at Brand Orientation

We have to give Apple a big round of applause for their exception design, subtle appearance, and attention to the details. Their streamline designs and the sleek aesthetics of their products can be seen easily on their website.

Apple’s minimalistic website is driving home their overarching brand standards and ideas to solidify their consumer loyalty.

At the first look at their website, you’ll feel you are looking at an Apple product, which is just another way of saying that everything at Apple matches. So Apple is trying to get you into their ecosystem by reaching out to their online customers with the subtle Apple product-like website. This gives a vibe that no matter what you are buying, it’ll match to the website. So subconsciously, you are becoming more and more obsessed with its look after you get a closer look at the details they’ve worked on.

So, Apple is definitely teaching us to keep the brand’s reflection in the overall design of our online store.

  • Amazon.com

Best product driven site

I know Amazon’s website is not the best of them all, but one thing that is exceptional is the product-centric approach to customers. On their site, the product takes the highlight rather than the white clumsy background and the dark header.

They know that selling the product is their goal and this is what website designers should pay attention to. Design the site in a way that people can immediately find out what they are buying. Once you start giving precedence to the products, customers will automatically come.
